They Left Notes sells resources for people who inherited a volunteer role without the notes. Some of them touch tax filings, sponsorship, and money handling. This page says plainly where the resources stop and where you need someone with a licence.

1. What these products are

Guides, kits, files, templates, worked examples, and adaptable wording, written for the person holding a volunteer role in a parent-teacher organization, booster club, or similar group. They are informational and educational. They exist to help you finish a task — send the message, run the meeting, close the event, hand the role forward — with less second-guessing.

They are not a service. Nobody reviews your situation, checks your paperwork, or takes responsibility for the outcome. What you get is a document and the judgment written into it.

2. Not legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice

Nothing sold or published here is legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice, and buying something does not create a professional relationship of any kind. Reading a They Left Notes resource is not a substitute for talking to a lawyer, a CPA, or your organization's own advisors.

Several of the resources describe federal rules for tax-exempt organizations — annual filing thresholds, written acknowledgments, quid pro quo disclosure. They describe the rules as they were understood at the time of writing, for the general case. They do not tell you what your organization must do.

If a decision has money, tax status, or liability attached to it, get a professional to look at it.

3. Rules vary, and they change

Requirements differ by state, county, school district, and organization, and they change over time. A rule that is right for a PTO in one state may be wrong for a booster club two counties away, and a rule that was current when a resource was written may have been amended since.

Your own governing documents add another layer. Bylaws, a district's business-office policy, a council or state PTA's requirements, and the terms of any grant or sponsorship can all impose obligations that no general resource can anticipate.

Before you act on anything in these resources, confirm it against the current text of the applicable rule and against your own organization's documents. Where a resource cites a source, follow the citation and read it yourself.

4. No guarantee of results

We do not guarantee any specific outcome — financial, fundraising, organizational, or personal — from using these resources.

Any fundraising totals, sponsorship amounts, donation figures, participation rates, or timelines shown on this site or inside a product are illustrative examples or individual accounts. They are not predictions and they are not typical results. We make no claim about the amount your organization will raise, the sponsors it will secure, or the volunteers it will recruit.

What happens depends on your organization, your community, your timing, and how much of the work you actually do. Testimonials describe one person's experience and are not a promise of yours.

And your part in it

These resources supply wording, structure, and judgment. You supply the facts of your own organization, the decision about what fits, and the act of actually sending, filing, or running the thing. A file that stays unopened changes nothing. None of this works on its own, and we are not responsible for outcomes that turn on work that did not get done or on details only you could know.

When the site is down

The site runs on hosting and payment platforms we do not control, and brief interruptions happen. They do not entitle you to a refund. What we do commit to is that any downloadable file included with a purchase stays available from your account for at least twelve months — and if an outage stops you getting it, tell us and we extend that window. The binding version is Section 10 of the Terms of Purchase.

5. AI-assisted tools and outputs

Where a product is an AI-powered tool, a custom GPT, an assistant, or a prompt library, its outputs are generated by artificial intelligence and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or wrong for your situation. Review and verify everything before you send it, file it, or rely on it.

Those tools run on third-party platforms we do not control. Anything you type into one is transmitted to and processed by that platform under its own terms. Do not enter sensitive personal information, confidential organizational records, financial account details, or any information about a student or other minor.

6. Third-party tools and links

Resources and articles sometimes name outside tools, services, or sources. Naming one is not an endorsement, and we do not warrant that it will work for you or that its information is accurate. Evaluate anything you adopt on its own terms.

They Left Notes does not currently participate in affiliate marketing programs and receives no commission on any third-party product or tool it mentions. If that ever changes, we will say so and disclose it in line with the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides.
